Op 20 juli 1969 zette de Amerikaanse astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930-2012), een christen, als eerste mens voet op de maan. Hij sprak de woorden: „Een kleine stap voor een man, een grote stap voor de mensheid”. Toen hij later een bezoek bracht aan Jeruzalem, werd hij in de oude stadskern rondgeleid door de Israëlische archeoloog Meir Ben-Dov. Bij de Hulda-poort aangekomen, die bovenaan de trap  naar de tempelberg is, vroeg Armstrong of Jezus hier ergens gelopen had. "Kijk", zei Ben-Dov, "Jezus was een Jood. Dit zijn de treden die naar de tempel leidden, dus moet hij hier vele malen gewandeld hebben." Daarop vroeg Armstrong of deze treden de originele zijn. De archeoloog antwoordde bevestigend. "Dus Jezus heeft hier stappen gezet?" vroeg Armstrong. "Dat klopt", antwoordde Ben-Dov.
