Getallen hebben in de Bijbel soms een bijzondere betekenis. Het valt op dat de getallen drie, vier, zeven en tien veel in de Bijbel voorkomen. De getallen vier en tien treden vooral bij de afmetingen van de tabernakel en de tempel op. Verder treedt het getal veertig naar voren.

Bijna alle volken kennen een getallensymboliek.
